He respects and mercies the dead as shown when he kills a cocooned Balathu/Kurum. He is religious, as he frequently mentions Allah and how God is punishing him and the other characters but not to the point of being superstitious as he didn't believe in demons before seeing the vampires. Salim is practical and stubborn, willing to work with the Americans despite being sworn enemies. He is selfless, trying to help fellow Iraqi soldiers under fire. Salim is also level-headed according to the Curator. He shows curiosity towards his environment and people, even if they involve enemies. He is well-educated since he speaks English and is shown to be cultured and shrewd, even more than Jason or Nick despite the low level of education in Iraq. Salim only wants peace and comfort before Dar forces him into action, causing the Curator to describe him as a reluctant soldier. Salim is kindhearted and believes most people are inherently good. Zain is his fuel and motivation for getting out alive and will not let anything stop him from returning home to his son. Salim is divorced and has a son named Zain. Salim is a veteran soldier according to a dialogue between him and Jason. Salim is described in-game as stubborn and courageous. Salim will lose his helmet as well, but obtain a metal stake from the fallen truck, which becomes Salim's main weapon.Īs the game progresses, Salim's uniform gets dirtier by escaping and fighting the Vampires in sand caverns. After falling into the sand caverns and finding the ruins of a temple, he loses both of his rifle and sidearm, but can equip himself a Beretta 92 pistol while encountering the Vampire, but will discard it later on.
